As part of the BASC Colombia 2025 National Conference, held on June 5, the National Directorate of Taxes and Customs of Colombia (DIAN) and BASC Colombia signed an important Cooperation Agreement aimed at strengthening public-private collaboration and ensuring the security of imports and exports in Colombia.

The agreement was signed by Luis Eduardo Llinás, acting director general of the DIAN, and Oscar Sánchez, chairman of the board of BASC Colombia and the World BASC Organization (WBO). Also present were Erik Moncayo, international president of WBO, and Luis Bernardo Benjumea, executive director of BASC Colombia.

The signing of this agreement marks a strategic step in institutional cooperation to promote regulatory compliance, transparency, and risk management in Colombia’s trade processes. As stated by director Llinás, “the agreement will allow us to train our public servants, strengthen audits, share best practices, and learn from each other,” with the goal of improving compliance across all economic sectors in the country.

WBO celebrates this partnership as a clear demonstration of the commitment of Colombian authorities and the BASC program to facilitate secure trade and build more reliable and efficient supply chains. This agreement joins others signed by BASC chapters with their respective national customs authorities, reinforcing BASC’s role as a technical partner to customs administrations in the region and fostering collaborative environments that benefit both public institutions and the private sector.

World BASC Organization congratulates BASC Colombia on this important achievement and reaffirms its commitment to continue supporting initiatives that strengthen inter-institutional cooperation in favor of a more secure, transparent, and competitive international trade environment.
