BASC was invited to provide training on Supply Chain Security and Risk Management to over 100 security experts, entrepreneurs, free trade zone representatives, customs and control authorities participating in the National Workshop on Supply Chain Security in Free Trade Zones organized by the National Customs Directorate of Paraguay (DNA), CICTE/OAS, and the TFAST Project of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. BASC supported this training based on the voluntary cooperation agreement between the Inter-American Committee Against Terrorism (CICTE) of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the World BASC Organization (WBO), to enhance international trade while promoting the prevention of terrorism in the Americas. The opening of the event was led by Julio Fernández Frutos, National Director of Paraguay Customs Administration; Alison August Treppel, Executive Secretary of CICTE/OAS; and Daniel Oviedo, Director of the TFAST Project.

On this occasion, WBO appointed Luis Bernardo Benjumea, Executive Director of BASC Colombia, who, on behalf of the Organization, played a key role in the development of the workshop's agenda. During his presentation, Benjumea moderated working sessions and discussions on Risk Management in the private sector and the importance of working together with government authorities to ensure the security of international trade.
